Jigsaw is a specialist provision for up to twelve pre-school age children from across the London Borough of Richmond with social and communication needs, including autism. The provision provides a communication-centred environment that supports the children in all areas of their learning.
The Jigsaw staff consists of a teacher in charge, a specialist speech and language therapist and early years educators. By combining equally the disciplines of teaching and speech and language therapy the team is able to plan and deliver a highly specialised curriculum.
Each child follows an Individual Education Plan based on his/her developmental needs across all areas of the Foundation Stage curriculum. The Jigsaw provision children integrate with Windham Nursery during free playtime. There is also a reverse integration programme in which Windham Nursery children take part in Jigsaw activities.
The Jigsaw Unit is open 5 days a week. We have two classes that run Monday to Friday 8.45am–11.30am and one afternoon class from 12.45–3.30pm with the child attending for either 5 mornings or 5 afternoon sessions.
